My (Shalanna’s) mother, Jodie, has been diagnosed with carcinoid cancer of the digestive tract, which explains a lot of her suffering over the past few months (the GI bleeding, the suffocation, the panic attacks–all from the hormones from these endocrine-related tumors), and on Tuesday the 22nd (Hubby’s birthday!) they’re doing a CT scan to look at her liver. If this stuff moves to the liver, it is no longer curable, they tell us–so PLEASE pray that her liver is clear and lymph nodes are clear, that we can take care of this with surgery. This type of stuff doesn’t respond well to chemo/radiation, they told us. She has carcinoid syndrome, they think, which floods the body with serotonin; you’d think that would be good, but it isn’t, in excess.
If you are so inclined, please pray for her, and for an all-clear result–or if you don’t pray, then please send her some positive energy or a spell. We’ll be grateful for any and all support.
I guess that little streak of good luck had to end, after all. Balance uber alles. But anyway, it’s another bump in the road.
